  1. Nearshore means the team works in or near the client's timezone; offshore means a distant one, often with little or no overlap in the working day. The practical difference is feedback speed: nearshore teams resolve questions live in shared hours, while offshore loops add a day to every clarification. For work with frequent product decisions, that delay compounds directly into the schedule and the defect rate.
  2. Offshore hourly rates are lower on paper. The honest comparison is total cost to a shipped, maintainable system: rework, defect rates, communication overhead, and the management time the client side spends compensating for distance and seniority gaps.
